Everything you might want to know before reaching out — about therapy, coaching, fees, and how this all works.
This is one of the most common questions, and it's a good one. Here's a simple way to think about it:
Sometimes the lines blur, and that's okay. Reach out and we'll figure out together which path makes the most sense for where you are right now.
Yes — always. I offer a free 15-minute consultation for both therapy and coaching. It's simply a conversation: you share what's brought you here, ask whatever you need, and we see if working together feels right. There's no pressure, no obligation, and no hard sell.
I also genuinely believe that not every therapist is the right fit for every person. If after talking we both feel like someone else might serve you better, I'll support you in finding them.
More like a conversation than an intake. I'll ask some foundational questions to understand your background and what's brought you in, but don't expect a formal checklist or a clipboard full of assessments.
My goal for that first session is simple: you leave feeling comfortable, heard, and like you have a genuine sense of who I am and how I work. There's no pressure to dive deep right away. We move at whatever pace feels right for you.
I respect that completely. The therapeutic relationship matters enormously, and not every therapist works for every person — that's not a failure, it's just reality.
If at any point you feel like someone else might serve you better, I welcome that honesty. I'll support you in finding what's right for you, including providing referrals if helpful.
My primary focus is life transitions — those moments when the ground shifts and what once felt certain no longer does. This can look like many things:
If you're unsure whether your situation fits, reach out. If I'm not the right person to help, I'll tell you honestly and help you find someone who is.
My approach is integrative — I draw from several evidence-based frameworks rather than applying one rigid model. The methods I work with most include:
I'm also currently pursuing EMDR training, an evidence-based trauma processing modality, and will offer this as an additional service upon certification.
The most important thing is that what we do in sessions actually resonates with you — lasting change doesn't come from a technique alone, it comes from feeling truly met.
Yes — please reach out via the contact page or request a free 15-minute consultation to get started. I'll respond within [your timeframe, e.g., 1–2 business days].
In Virginia, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (MSW) is a fully trained clinical social worker with a master's degree who is completing a required period of supervised practice before receiving full licensure. This is a standard and required step for all LCSWs.
Practicing under supervision means I meet regularly with a licensed supervisor who reviews my clinical work. Far from being a limitation, this is an additional layer of support for my clients — you're receiving care from a clinician who is actively being consulted on.
My supervising clinician is Courtney L. Weaver, LCSW.
There's no standard answer — it depends entirely on what you're working on and what you need. Some people find significant relief and clarity in a few months. Others find ongoing work valuable over a longer period. We'll check in regularly about how the work is feeling and whether it's still serving you.
My goal is never to foster dependence. Therapy, at its best, makes itself unnecessary — and that's always what we're working toward.
Coaching is a goal-oriented, forward-focused process. It doesn't involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions, and it's not bound by the same legal and clinical structures as therapy.
Where therapy often explores the past to understand the present, coaching tends to focus on where you are now and where you want to go. Both can involve deep conversation, honest reflection, and real personal growth — but they serve different purposes.
Coaching is a strong fit if you're:
You don't need to have everything figured out — just a readiness to move.
This is something we'd need to discuss carefully. Ethically, holding both a therapeutic and a coaching relationship with the same person at the same time can create complications — including around role clarity, boundaries, and the nature of each relationship.
In general, I'd recommend choosing one service based on your primary need right now, and revisiting the other once that work is complete. Reach out and we can talk through what makes sense for your situation.
Therapy services may be covered by your insurance plan. I am currently able to bill insurance through my supervising practice.
Insurance billing availableCoaching is a private-pay service and is not billed to insurance. Session fees are discussed during the consultation.
Private pay onlyTherapy may be covered by your insurance plan. I am currently able to bill insurance through my supervising practice. To find out if you're covered, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly and asking:
I'm happy to discuss fees and billing during the consultation.
Coaching fees are discussed during the free 15-minute consultation. I believe in transparency around cost, and I'm happy to talk through what makes sense for your situation and goals before you make any commitment.
I believe cost should not be a barrier to care. If you have financial concerns, please mention this during our consultation and we can talk through what's possible. I have a limited number of reduced-fee slots available.
I ask for [24 or 48] hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. Life happens — if something comes up, please reach out as soon as possible and we'll work it out.
All sessions are conducted via telehealth using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Before your first session, you'll receive a link and simple instructions. All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera.
Many clients find telehealth more convenient and just as effective as in-person sessions — there's no commute, and you can take the session from wherever you're most comfortable.
I am licensed in Virginia and can provide therapy services to clients who are physically located in Virginia at the time of each session. I am based in Crozet, VA and serve clients throughout the Charlottesville area and across the state. Coaching services are not subject to the same geographic restrictions.
If you're unsure whether telehealth therapy is available to you, reach out and we'll figure it out.
